Procurement Engineer

As a Procurement Engineer at Ciner Glass Belgium, you will ensure that all our suppliers of raw materials and equipment meet the strict quality requirements, performance standards and sustainability criteria of our glass factory. You will focus on supplier qualification, audits, process control and continuous improvement to guarantee stable production quality and reliable delivery. You will work with cullet, silica sand, soda ash, limestone and specialised spare parts for furnaces, moulding lines and packaging lines, among other things.
Responsibilities & Core Tasks
Supplier Quality
- Develop and maintain a supplier quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 and internal quality standards
- Define and monitor KPIs for suppliers (PPM, NCR, technical compliance).
- Leading supplier audits on raw material quality, process stability, traceability and environmental compliance (REACH, ISO 14001)
- Validating the process capacity of critical materials together with production engineers and production teams
Procurement & onboarding
- Implementing structured qualification and requalification programmes for suppliers
- Supporting the onboarding of new suppliers: evaluating process control, testing samples, aligning with technical data sheets
- Drafting contract clauses, inspection standards and escalation procedures together with the purchasing team
Problem solving & improvement
- Performing root cause analyses for supplier non-conformities and following up on corrective and preventive measures (8D methodology)
- Collaborating with logistics and warehouse to ensure traceability of materials and manage blocked stock
- Supporting continuous improvement projects, such as supplier development and reduction of cost-of-non-quality
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science or Quality Management
- 3–5 years of experience in supplier quality, procurement engineering or process control (glass, ceramics or metal industry is a plus)
- Knowledge of incoming inspections, SPC, supplier risk assessment, technical drawings and material specifications
- Experience with ERP (SAP), MS Excel and quality tools such as FMEA, PPAP, 8D and control plans
- Knowledge of EU and Belgian quality and environmental legislation
- Analytical, detail-oriented, structured and results-oriented
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, ability to collaborate cross-functionally and improve supplier processes.
- Dutch and English (German is a plus)
