Experienced Batch & Furnace Engineer

Join our dynamic organisation as a Production Engineer in our Batch and Furnace Department. In this department, our raw materials are mixed into a recipe and the melting process takes place in the glass furnace. Here, as an engineer, you will be the driving force behind the innovation and efficiency of our production processes in collaboration with various teams.

Responsibilities & Key Tasks
As a Batch & Furnace Engineer at Ciner Glass, you will be a member of a building production facility, where you will initially oversee the machine builders and glass furnace builder and be part of the glass furnace start-up. Afterwards you will oversee and report on all activities within the department and optimize production processes. In this role you will report to the Batch & Furnace Manager.
Provide a smooth production process
- Responsible for the analysis of production data within the relevant department, as well as overseeing the analysis of raw materials by the lab or operators
- Identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements to increase operational efficiency, both in your area and across departments in collaboration with engineers within the relevant departments
- Follow up the stock of raw materials and glass cullet and in case of shortages, deviations or others report this to the manager and liaise with procurement/supply chain or in emergency cases directly with the supplier for orders or escalation of problems in order to obtain a sustainable solution
- Setting and monitoring the parameters and energy status/consumption within the furnace and adjusting them in order to guarantee sustainable and qualitative production
- Together with the team leader, responsible for communicating to the production planning if deviations occur from the predetermined planning
- Functions as escalation person concerning production problems and if necessary contacting the technical department. In case of recurring problems, set up a project team together with engineers from the technical department to solve permanent problems
- Daily checking of checkpoints and performing calibrations
Reporting & Budgeting
- Is involved in drawing up the annual budget and is cost-conscious with it
- Preparation of various reports relating to furnace (energy) efficiency, raw materials, production efficiency, ...
Innovation, Optimisation & Projects
- Participates in any working groups and projects within the framework of the department
- Develop and implement new procedures and work instructions and keep current procedures and work instructions up to date, whether or not in collaboration with operators
- Monitor the efficiency of the production process and optimize where possible
- Act as key user in the implementation of our specific production software (e.g. SAP)
Consultation, Training & Safety
- Attend consultations and take an active role in them
- Be an example in bringing our safety culture to the top and involve operators in projects, improvement ideas and consultations
- Giving training to others, such as fellow engineers
- You will be present on the production floor
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor or Master degree, with mechanical, chemical, industrial or materials engineering preferred
- Experience with industrial glass furnaces is a must: container glass, flat glass, household glass or special glass
- You are open-minded and eager to learn, including training in the exciting and challenging glass manufacturing process
- Driven by continuous improvement, you go the extra mile for the best alternatives and solutions
- You have a systematic analytical approach with a keen sense of responsibility towards project finance, project planning and knowledge sharing with colleagues in general
- Strong communication skills with all stakeholders in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
- Function in team to realize the complete project together
- Strong people management skills for potential advancement to a management position
- Dynamic personality characterized by proactivity and innovation
